Sweet Peek: Carolyn Hart

My next Sweet Peek features Carolyn Hart, another designer who has been with us pretty much from the beginning. Her clothing is always fun, flirty, and feminine and the collection she will be showing on Saturday is no exception. Here is what she has to say about her line:

"My name is Carolyn Hart and I am the proud designer of my women's wear line, Carolyn Hart!  I take pride in the fact that it is all made right here in Portland.  You will always find structure combined with a delicate touch.  My collections are for the woman with an energetic spirit and never ending passion for the things she loves ~ which is what I apply to each item I create!"

The show is on Saturday and I am pretty much burning the candles at both ends, but it's okay because I am doing what I love!!!! If you live in Portland I hope you plan on coming, it's going to be a blast!!!!!  

Sweet Peek: Squeak Designs

My next installment of Sweet Peeks features Squeak Designs, also a newcomer to Sweet F.A. Heather Birch, the designer behind Squeak Designs, works mostly with latex and specializes in "making crazy custom hats and clothing for people who don't want fashion as usual." I am very excited to see her collection on the runway!!!!

Sweet Peek: Moovmint

My next Sweet Peeks features Moovmint. A newcomer to Sweet F.A., Moovmint designer Sundari Franklin hand paints and dyes her boots to make something unique. Here is what she has to say about her line:

"I am a fashion designer gone boot creator. I was inspired by black and my dislike for it (not my dislike necessarily, but not my style.) I started to create boots that had some sort of color, some beauty to them. I started playing around with different dye techniques and embroiderys and fell in love with turning black into something else. These boots are literally walking art."

We have never had a shoe designer show at one of our fashion shows before , so this is new and exciting for us. Stay tuned for more!!!!

Sweet Peek: Clair Vintage Inspired

This is the first installment of my "Sweet Peek" series, which will be featuring designers from my upcoming fashion show Sweet F.A.

Today I am featuring Clair Vintage Inspired made by Alyson Clair. Clair has been with Doom Town Productions pretty much from the beginning, and it has been very exciting to see Alyson grow as a designer and put out great collections season after season. Here is what she has to say about her latest endeavor, "The Cameo Collection":

"I am constantly inspired by my surroundings, past and present. This collection came to me from the Cameo Theater, located in my hometown of Newberg, Oregon. The theater was built in 1937, and remains in it's original state today. I could stare at the beauty of the architecture and and aesthetic of the period for days on end."

This brings me back to my goth days. While I will always love The Cure and Siouxsie, I definitely was way more into the scene when I was younger. I did not really dress to the extreme (I wore a lot of black and had black hair with Betty Page bangs) but I did frequent the goth and industrial clubs of San Francisco about 10 years ago. Once in a while I will go to Shadowplay in Portland if I need a goth fix.

My rock and roll fashion show Sweet F.A. is coming up on September 4th, so this will be the first of many rock-centric posts that I will be featuring in the next couple of weeks. I will also be writing about the designers, so stay tuned!!!!!!
